Putting the Past Together

By Sue Greenwald

About 20 years ago, I was meditating at home, as had become my new practice.  I immediately had a vision. In this vision, I saw unusual curved triangular shapes that were wrapped in something.  I zoomed in closer, just like you’d do if you were using a touch screen now.  I realized with shock that it was a parrots beak!

The beak looked like it was wrapped with some sort of tape.   The beak was curved, but looked like it had been twisted and broken open.   In my vision, I zoomed in again, and saw that it was a beautiful, parrot like bird.  (I can no longer recall the colors  or the bird or what type of bird it was).   I wrote this experience down, drew a picture of it, and put this vision in the back of my mind.  I wasn’t sure why I had that particular, very odd vision.

A couple of months later, my friend Nancy invited me over to receive a healing treatment of some sort, as she was receiving a certification and needed to practice.  I went over to her home, and after the treatment she drew a picture of what she had seen.   She drew curved triangles, which were almost the same as what I’d drawn!

Oddly enough, it was a parrot like birds beak that had been damaged, and had something wrapped around it.  She had some other visuals that she drew for me and we discussed these at length.  Now I was super curious!  Why the heck would I have received a vision about a broken parrots beak?

I went back to Nancy’s house and we meditated on this to get an answer.  What we received was that in a past life, I was a young Japanese women, very quiet and beautiful.  I lived in the home of a wealthy and powerful man.  I had a parrot type of bird, which was really my only companion.  One day, the bird was making too much noise.  Sadly, the man twisted the birds beak in a fit of anger.  I tried to repair the beak, but the bird was damaged and couldn’t eat.  I must have tried to bind the beak so that it would heal.

I assume that the bird died, and I believe that this was a very traumatic event in that lifetime.  By the way, after the man damaged the bird, he regretted it.   I think that this past life was set in the 1800’s or very early 1900’s.  It was before modern technology was available.

I’m not sure why it was important for me to see this particular vision.  What really interested me is that not only did I see the vision and draw a picture of it, but my friend picked up on the exact same thing without any mention of it from me!  It was really exciting that we were able to put the pieces of the story together a little bit.  There was a period of several months to a year from my having the initial vision to Nancy seeing the same thing.

About 20 years has passed since this event.  I’ve thrown the notes and drawings away in a variety of moves.  In fact, I’d forgotten all about this whole thing, until a day or so ago.  I stood watching the birds in my yard when this particular memory came back to me.  I have lots of birds where I live: hummingbirds, blue jays, cardinals, and huge variety of other songbirds.  I love to watch them!  I guess my mind was relaxed and the memory surfaced.  When the memory came back to me, it felt like it was very far away, even more than 20 years!
