A Not So Secret Visit From My Cat
By Sue Greenwald
Around 2015, I was in bed reading. I felt a cat jumping on the bed, which was extremely high, higher than hip height. It then walked across the bed and flopped down near the pillows. I felt the footsteps, the flop down on the pillow, and even saw the footprints being formed on the bed. I watched as it all happened, which was all great, except…there wasn’t a physical cat there!
I knew that it was one of my favorite cats who’d passed away a few years earlier. Since that time, the cats that I’ve had have been seen and felt with me, rubbing my ankles, sleeping next to me. I even feel them sometimes while driving my car.
In this case, I watched the pressure of the invisible cat paws make indentations in the bed, and saw where its body flopped down on to the neighboring pillow. I didn’t have any fear, just surprise, and finally told it that I knew it was there with me. The cat kind of winced (like it was in trouble) and then disappeared, as he thought he was in stealth mode, invisible and silent.
I’ve previously written about a deceased cat walking through the kitchen where we could fully see her form, and have had lots of interactions with these pets through the past years, so I wasn’t surprised that he was with me. Many times, even now, I’ll feel one of these cats rubbing my ankles at night, when my physical cat is sitting by my side. They are always there with me!
