UFO in the Daylight

By Laurie Veillette

I had an experience sometime around 1986/1987 when I was around 17 or 18. My boyfriend at the time (now my husband) was driving on a highway close to our home in nearby Southbury, CT. As we came over a hill towards Waterbury, there was a huge craft which looked like a football stadium sized UFO hovering very low and idle over Waterbury, CT. I couldn't believe my eyes and immediately said "WTF is that?" to which he replied, "I don't know".

I tried to observe everything. There were cars pulled over all over the highway, observing the craft. While he continued to drive, I just stared in awe as I could see colorful lights, windows and everything UFO-like about this monstrosity in the sky. All of a sudden, as we were getting closer, it took off at the speed of light! It travelled very fast and far enough away that I could no longer see the details. Then it began to descend below the trees.

I was amazed and startled by the whole experience! This was long before cell phones, or I'm sure there would have been some incredible pictures. I went home to my parents' house to share my experience, and my mom replied, "OK Lauire"...as if she didn't believe me, and my dad just laughed. I'm sure they thought I was nuts! There was another witness, although he was not as excited as I was.

About an hour later, my parents were watching the news and my mom came in to tell me that there were reports like mine all over the state and that I should watch the segment coming up next regarding it, which I did. The news talked of reports similar to mine from all over the state. They concluded with a statement that the National Weather Service "declared that it was a passing storm!".

From this point on, I knew that nothing made sense because if there was one thing I was sure of, it was that I did not experience a “passing storm”. Did they think I was a fool and would believe this was actually a storm? Unfortunately, most people did believe that story.

I either witnessed an alien space craft or some other government experiment that day. It was definitely some sort of technology that could not be logically explained at the time, or even now actually.
