Helped on the Highway
by Cheryl Davis
I was driving in a major winter snowstorm coming from the Detroit area heading toward Chicago. It was daylight but it was hard to see on the road with snow still falling and some ice accumulation. I had been living in California for years now, full of warmth and sunshine so my winter driving skills and abilities had reduced significantly. This was my first long distance winter storm in many years I had experienced.
The speed limit was 75 mph, but I had slowed down my speed to 20 mph with hazard lights on. I was feeling like a novice, but utilizing all I knew to keep myself safe. I had a four cylinder rental car with little traction left on the tires. Cars were speeding past me at normal speeds, some creating accidents or sliding into a ditch. The weather seemed like it was getting worse and I didn’t know how I was going to get through this drive.
All of a sudden, a car sped passed me, flying by, then switched lanes into my lane, so now I was right behind this vehicle. It slowed down to my speed and turned on their hazards. I found an angel buddy. I felt calmer knowing another vehicle was driving slowly. I realized they were sent by Daddy, leading the way for me, as I was now able to see the tracks better in the road. I started to feel so much safer thanking Daddy and asking him for this car to be around for awhile.
They stayed with me for a few hours until I reached my exit. When they saw me pull off, they turned off their hazards and increased their speed. The weather conditions were too horrible to attempt to pull over and thank them. Daddy sent me an angel that day and had others with me the whole way. I had a knowing that they were there specifically to assist me! Thank you, Daddy and angels. I love you all.
